Disney movies are always so dreamy and so perfect but this movie particularly touched my heart as the Princess Tiana's dream was all about cooking and starting a restaurant #GOALS

Here is Tiana’s Famous Beignets Recipe from The Princess and the Frog with my special twist!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Prep Time: 30 Minutes Cook Time: 1 Hour

Total Time: 1 Hour 30 Minutes Servings: Makes 10 to 14

Ingredients

2 3/4 cups all purpose flour 1 cup buttermilk

1/3 cup water 1/3 cup sugar

1 egg, beaten 2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg Vegetable oil, for frying

Confectioners’ sugar, for dusting Chunks of Dark Chocolate

Directions

For the Beignets

  • In a bowl, combine the all purpose flour with the sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Whisk everything together

  • In a large round bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, water, egg, and vanilla extract. Now Stir in the flour mixture and knead into a dough

  • Now dust some flour on your work surface. Place the dough on it and keeping patting until it turns into a large 1/2 -inch-thick square. Dust the top with more flour if it gets sticky. Next, slice the dough into 2-21/2 inch squares. Let it rest for 10 mins

  • Heat 2 inches of vegetable oil in a heavy saucepan, wait till the oil starts to bubble. If it gets too hot (judging by the smoke), temporarily turn the heat down, or off.

  • Carefully drop 2 dough squares at a time into the hot oil. Fry them for 2-3 minutes until golden brown, turn them over, and continue frying for 2-3 more minutes. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the beignets to a wire rack set atop paper towels to drain. Dust the beignets with confectioners’ sugar, and enjoy!

For the Sauce

  • Chuck the dark chocolate chunks into a microwavable bowl add a teaspoon of sugar and teaspoon of finely chopped red chillis (Optional)

  • Melt the chocolate for about 40-50 seconds; keep stirring the chocolate until you get a smooth sauce like glaze.

You can now enjoy this with a hot cup of coffee!
